Do you think the success of the third game will lead into a movie?

Based on The Witcher novels? I really hope so.

They already made a movie (and TV series) in Poland and it bombed.

But the success of the game still may get American studios interested. Just as long as it's not Uwe Boll that makes it.

I have to say I don't despise Uwe Boll like many gamers do, but only because the movies he's `butchered' are not based on games I've played...other than Dungeon Siege, but honestly there's not a lot you could do with a movie version of DS, so at worst it was a somewhat funny C-grade sword-and-sorcery flick. All the others, the movies weren't great but were C-grade entertainment; I wasn't familiar with the game lore so could watch the movies as separate entities.

That said, keep him away from Witcher! This could be an awesome movie...or trilogy. There's a ton of lore and back-story, characters with actual depth, and an almost limitless well of inspiration to draw from. Monster of the week with the overarching story of the games a la `Supernatural' if you went the series route.

And me, I'd cast Doug Cockle as Geralt, because I can't `hear' anyone else doing his voice and based on the pics from IMDB, he could pull off the look with some hair and scars.

I remember a long time ago, before anyone thought about making it into a game, I fancast Kevin Costner as Geralt. But that was like, at the end of the 90's. Nowadays? I have no idea... I just imagined Vin Diesel with long hair and it was a weird image. Dave Bautista? It's a pity Kurt Russell is so old, he would have been perfect.

But admittedly both were extremely low budget fiascos. Who knows? Could happen.

No one certainly expected TW3 to be as successful as it's been.

reply

back in the day Kurt Russell or Kevin Costner would of been perfect. I've been racking my brain and I cant think of who could play Geralt???? I would like to see it as a tv series though, I just think there is so much story in that world, a movie wouldn't do it justice. so who could play Geralt?

Jake Gyllenhaal

Platige Films and Tomek Bagiński are working on feature live-action movie "Wiedźmin". Project is currently in development. The script will be based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski.

Triss Rosamund Pike

Dandelion Jared Leto

I thought the way Geralt speaks and the way he looks reminds me of Jim Caviezel so I reckon he'd be a good fit for the role.

Geralt reminds me of Anson Mount from hell on wheels. he gets my vote for thespian to play Geralt.
