This film absolutely blew me away. What an emotional powerhouse. It was so powerful and moving on so many levels. This is one of the best films I've seen in a while. What a pity it was not able to grab the Oscar. I hope Ida is just as wonderful, or else this feel was majorly robbed!
The Foreign Film category this year was packed - MUCH better than the actual Best Picture nominee list IMHOP.
TANGERINES, LEVIATHAN and IDA are three of the best movies of any kind I have seen in the last 12 months. TIMBUKTU is very good, and WILD TALES, while inconsistent, is a decent fun ride.
But, I could easily live with a re-arrangement of the the top 3 depending on personal preference. I just found IDA to be a piece of masterful mesmerizing simplicity, but your mileage may vary.
