5 years?? *Spoilers*

She was "brainwashed" for what, 6-8 months?! What happened to the 5 years in states in the summary? Would of been a much better & more believable story, if it indeed took place over the course of 5 years.

The real story probably did, they just shortened it for the film.

Yeah, I have a feeling the little blurbs of, "12 months to rescue..." was after the four years of brainwashing. While I feel this is definitely one of the better "Made for Lifetime" movies, once again, there are gaps in the writing which leave the viewer wondering what happened between the summary info, and the actual timeline of the movie. I think what we see is the beginning of how Laura got involved with the "cult," and then a lot of time was skipped over after the first year (or however long Laura was there) of that community college, then we see the "12 months to rescue..." "8 months to rescue..." So we're shown the first year, and the last year leading up to the rescue. However, it would have been nice if somehow the writers could have found a way to let the viewer know this for sure.

Ah well. It is a Lifetime movie, after all.

What I found most interesting was that at the beginning of the movie, Lifetime put up that blurb about how this movie is a work of fiction and although INSPIRED by actual people and events, it in no real way tells the story of what happened to the real people. Looks like Lifetime came under enough fire for their lies and omissions of their other movies, that their legal team may have advised them they'd better put up some sort of true disclaimer to avoid legal incrimination.

I agree with you on that point, but for this movie that is how they wrote it and plus, this was the time frame of those months on when I ran to the ranch and was rescued .
