Missing scenes?

I was watching the movie and there were several spots where there was a short time skip (there would be a quick fade to darkness and then continuing after certain scenes were done), is this normal or is my copy bad? Take for instance the woman who got killed via tightening corset, my copy doesn't actually include her death sequence, we just see her corpse after it's placed next to a bound woman.
