Another German movie copying the plot of an American one... Meine Fresse

Am I the only one who was reminded of 'Blue Streak'?
Okay, instead of police FJG was set in the context of high school.
I can almost hear the writers saying "well... how about mixing the plot of an American movie not many people will still remember with some high school kiddie *beep* trash 'comedy'".

I can really not understand why this movie is so popular.
Very shallow humour combined with some shoddy pseudo ghetto slang.

What? I just read up on the plot of Blue Streak, but I really don't get where you draw that conclusion from. Blue Streak is evidently set among adults and the main plot point is that everyone wants this diamond.
Fack Ju Göhte, on the other hand, is about an ex-convict, trying to retrieve some of his stolen money(alone, without anyone else looking for it), pretending to be a teacher to achieve that and ending up changing his entire life and outlook on life.

The storyline of an ex-/criminal looking for a fortune and finding something much more worthwhile, emotionally, isn't exactly a new one. Bad Guy with a Heart of Gold is a commonly used character in various stories.

Really, I get the impression that you didn't even watch the whole movie. Fack Ju Göhte is a lighthearted comedy with a serious message in the pocket: Education is important, and children have to be shown the fun in it. Besides, the actors are great.

First of all, I only compared the beginning of those two movies (in my review - this is just a short version of it).
And if you would have watched Blue Streak (I take from your comment that this is not the case), many similarities would have catched your eye.

Regrettably enough, I watched this movie until the extremely predictable end.
How one can see it as "lighthearted" doesn't really become clear to me - the word "Fremdscham" sums it up quite well.

Well then, why didn't you say so? Your thread title clearly states "copying the plot". Without mentioning how much was copied, the only conclusion left is that you mean "copying the whole plot". Next time you should state so from the start - I, for one, am not a telepath.

Indeed I haven't watched Blue Streak. From the plot summary, it doesn't strike me as very interesting, so I probably never will.

And have you never heard of "If you copy at all, do it good"? If Fack Ju Göhte really did copy(which I doubt, since many basic plots are similar - there is hardly anything new under the sun), then I don't doubt that it did so very well. Because the movie is, as far as I can judge, very good on it's own.

"Lighthearted" describes the fact that the movie doesn't deal extensively with depressing emotions or character developments and ends very positive for the characters. You can feel Fremdscham both for lighthearted and heavyhearted movies - the execution of a movie is not related to this basic tone.

Although I do agree that the end was predictable. He gets the girl and the job, and everyone's happy. With storylines such as this, it really can't be done any differently. Still, I enjoyed the predictable ending. To each his own.

I confused this thread with my review, in which i mentioned that I was referring to the beginning. So I can understand your answer... I am no telepath as well. :D

Let's leave it at your last sentence - To each his own.

Ah, oh dear, how unfortunate. xD

Why are you even commenting if you havent even seen Blue Streak?

You cant compare the two movies if you havent even seen them. The arrogance of some people, I swear!

This thread is in the board for the movie "Fack ju Göhte". I have seen that movie. So I post on this board.

The stupidity of some people, I swear? You should learn to think before you post. Or, for that matter, before you write. I don't give a damn about Blue Streak when I am posting on the board for an entirely different movie. And since I have never claimed to have seen Blue Streak when I haven't, no one can accuse me of being dishonest.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

When I read the IMDB plot synopsis my first immediate thought was, "that's Blue Streak!"

So yes, I absolutely picked up on that.
