Stockholm Syndrome

Simple case of Stockholm Syndrome or something more complex than that?

Well.. will have to wait and watch the movie to see what it is all about.. whatever it is, looks very interesting with unusual casting..

saw the film. the backdrop is stockholm syndrome but the real meaning is bigger. good film.

It's not about Stockholm Syndrome. The connection the protagonists have is real, because of their past sufferings, it's not a psychological mechanism triggered by the kidnapping.
It's sad that so many people who saw the film still think it's about Stockholm Syndrome. It's like they didn't understand the movie.

3 points in the movie explain why she fell for him
1. when she was kidnapped and Vinaay didn't get out of the car to rescue her even when she kept calling him he only said i told you
2. when Mahabir or whatever his name was slapped Guru after trying to molest her
3. when she told the story about her uncle
those 3 points explain perfectly well why she fell for him, she felt safe with him more than she ever felt at home and that is an important issue for a girl to fall for a guy
plus even though he was rude and violent, he was honest and clean
not like her uncle who molested her or her mom who turned a blind eye or dad who didn't even notice and not like Guru who tried molesting her
now i don't know if that is Stockholm Syndrome or not but it was very convincing for me

It is never about what happened, it is only how you look at it!

reply

No. Firstly she was only their "hostage" for a very short time.. victims of Stockholm are usually kidnapped for a long period.. few years at least. The parents and police in the end believed she was just suffering Stockholm Syndrome but we as the audience know that there is a lot more to it than that.
