that last episode was fantastic

showing how awkward white people get when they're trying to tip toe around racism. genius stuff. if you think about it, there's some level of racism still there in them. it hard to admit for some but i mean if you're white, chances are you are racist to some degree. people make the mistake of thinking that racism has one hate-mongering level but there are layers to it and the way that was explored in the latest episode is genius.

the show is all about painful awkwardness and it doesn't get more painfully awkward then that.

A little tired of the white guys being awkward around a black guy humor. It's decent for a joke or two but a whole episode about it wasn't necessary or as funny as the show has shown it can be.
I enjoy the show a lot though. Love Crystal and Gad's chemistry.
A little bummed the episode wasn't even a full 20 minutes either.
The one with Mel Brooks has been the best episode so far!

Going to agree. They bring in a black writer and they write him immediately pitching sketches about the KKK. And then to have him say he's from Harvard and all this other stuff, it just rang a little hollow.

Like if he came in and was pitching things they were already turning down, but because they don't want to seem racist, they do his horrible skits that they keep passing on from the other writers. Just felt like a less been there, don't that scenario.

Just my two cents. I also loved the Mel Brooks episode the most. By the way, the head writer "Mitch" is a total missed opportunity. I have no feel for him whatsoever, nor do I know why I should care about him.

Yeah, because nobody's done the "white people awkward around minorities" material before. And white people are all goofy and incompetent at treating them the same as anyone else. Ha ha ha ha.

Christ, shows have been doing this for literally decades, and many with far more tact and intelligence than this, I might add. There's a certain line to tread with this kind of stuff and The Comedians spectacularly belly-flopped right over it. If you're bringing in a black character for one episode solely for characters to "BE AWKWARD" around, that in itself is a pretty racist move - certainly not a position from which to get high and mighty about "exposing everyone's inherent racism" or whatever-the-hell they thought they were doing.

Watch the "Affirmative Action" episode of Curb to see how it should be done. I'm not a "super-PC-white-people-are-evil" guy at all, but I'm firmly opposed to lazy writing, especially in comedy.
