So far I'm really liking it. I think Crystal and Gad are working well together. I hope it gets a second season too.

Agree with everyone in this thread; it's really very good.

Been watching pretty much all of the successful "alternate reality" shows about Hollywood celebs for many years, like "Curb Your Enthusiasm", "Extras", "Entourage", "Episodes", etc. I was expecting the genre to be pretty much worn out, and was sure that was the reason for the low ratings.

Having watched all episodes of "The Comedians" now in a few days, I honestly don't understand why it's not rated higher. They definitely got their own thing going; it's charming, the two stars have chemistry, the scripts are good, etc. I really hope for a season two as well.

Agree. I truly wasn't expecting to like yet another break-the-fourth-wall (or fifth wall or sixth wall) comedy series, but The Comedians is so much better than I thought it would be. I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

For me, what makes first-rate comedy is layers, layers, layers. And I'm seeing that here. Besides the surface funny stuff and the fine comedy acting chops on display by so many (by which I mean don't push it, just play the scene), there are so many things going on beneath the surface here that it just tickles me to watch.

It's the same reason I love 'Louie' and just about any series Ricky Gervais has done. Layers, layers, layers. Really good comedy is about more than just funny.

I thought the show was really starting to hit its stride. The last few episodes were quite enjoyable. Sorry to hear it got axed.
