Terrific show. And, as expected, cancelled.

What a damn shame.

That show actually had an edge, it was ACTUALLY entertaining and have to say, pretty damn accurate as far as some HollyHood people are concerned.

And it's off the air now. Guess most people prefer all them filler Walking Dead episodes...

Oh well, at least it's good to know that both Gad and Crystal are proud of the The Comedians. And they should be, it's a great show that more and more people will discover in the future.

It was a terrible show that will be forgotten. As it should be.

Forgotten?

Not by me. And even if ONE person remembers it for being funny and entertaining, it's still a win.

I have to agree. I've only watched 5 episodes of it so far, but the show is damn funny and unique in a lot of what it does. Real shame that it won't be continued..

reply

It's fresh, funny, and brilliant so of course it's cancelled.

As someone that is breaking into the entertainment industry I enjoy shows about shows. I found this to be incredibly entertaining/interesting. I am disappointed it didn't get another seasons when garbage like Two Broke Girls gets 5 seasons.

What a shame.

The sketches they show feel like place holders. They rarely would work in a real show. I guess that set the tone the wrong way, as the show within the show feels very flawed, and not embarrassingly flawed like in "Extras" but flawed in a diffuse way which does not make clear that the writers of the actual show (the one we are watching) could do it better. In places it could have been cleverer. The "buddy" situation does not feel too original and is caught between seriousness and comedy, and I am not sure the actors can really deliver on the dramatic part.

That said, it is a bit sad that with the short breath of TV we only get a first shot of half-season lenght. The point where the show ended felt like a good starting point for the next season, maybe even better than the "comedians get to know each other" premise of the first season. Unlike a crime show or a family drama, comedy often just finds itself on the way, and I would have loved to see that second shot at it.

I just started watching this show on Hulu. It is so good. Regret not watching it sooner. Billy Crystal is amazing. This is the most I have liked Josh Gad as well. I have laughed and cried. It would be a great Hulu offering, similar to Difficult People.
