Change of Title Needed
I think they ought to change the title of this show, as there was a 1960's movie also called "The Comedians".

I think they should change it cause every fifth show/movie these days is called "The *blank*" cause they're too lazy to think of anything more clever. The Comedians couldn't be more bland a title.
shareThe Comedians is a good title, I think. Tho what I think could fill a freakin hat....
Also, The Comedians is not just a movie, but a book, by Graham Greene. I've read it! A good little book.
Larry Charles (a co-creator of this show) is a fan of the 60s movie, if I recall correctly, going so far as homaging some of the costumes in his Bob Dylan movie "Masked & Anonymous."
I bet he's well aware of the title match and it most likely adds some tone to it all for him I'm sure.
That was fifty plus years ago. I doubt anyone apart from a very very small percentage of people has heard of it

Based on the pilot, I think they should just call it "The Unfunny Comedians." It was cringe-worthy.

I think a change in title is required "The Comedians" would indicate the show had some comical content. They must have left it on the editing room floor.
shareIf anything they should changed the title because of its irony. You can't call a show "The Comedians" when it's not the least bit funny
shareHow many of you posters are going to make that same awful joke?
You complain about something not being funny then you come up with the same unfunny joke that 10 other people already said and act like you've really accomplished something.
The title is a missed opportunity. Instead of focussing on what the audience will get into when watching the show, it just tells "something with funny". Which probably does not reach the people who would like a show like this.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is a behemoth of a title, but it hints at the style the humour will be like: complicated. Modern Family tells that the show is about the relations of the people. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmitz already contains the sense of naivity of the main character. The Comedians says nothing, except perhaps implying that the idea behind it is out of fashion.
