This film just aired on the Fusion Channel. I loved it. First question: When this adventure first began, did it suddenly occur to Samantha this story potentially could be a great documentary, AND, if so, how did she quickly connect up with a film production company and producers to quickly capture everything. She did mention that she had graduated from college and later was wearing a Boston University t-shirt. BU is a great film school--did she make a connection there?

Second question: Did either girl speak Korean? When the first foster mother came into the room, I could of sworn that Samantha was translating to her sister. I could be wrong because the only technical criticism I have is the sound capturing was very poor. It was as if they only had a single mike overhead on a boom which picked up a lot of sound bouncing off walls and ceiling along with trying to capture different voice levels at the same time. It didn't work AND there is no CC to turn on to help.

I just watched this beautiful film.
I remember when the news happened like 1-2 years ago, I think Sam got to gofundme or something and that's how they can afford the filming, etc...

I thought Anaïs was speaking with the guy that was in there, not to her foster mother directly. It WAS hard to hear; she is quiet as it is, but the sound was not great. But I thought the guy was speaking French to her and Korean to the foster mother.

i think the movie shows one failing of international adoptions

and that is adoptive parents not making sure that their children get language skills in their mother tongue, and learn about their native culture

You're saying a country who is gracious enough to allow an international adoption and take that child into their society and raise them, should be further burdened by having to teach them cultural history and language of another cultural? One that likely wouldn't even have any benefit in the country they call home?

No matter how much you wish to believe, Samantha and Anais' biological mother doesn't care about them. They do not exist to her. Anais and Samantha's real family lives in France and USA, and those who helped them out of Korea.

It's only human nature for both to feel like there is something else out there, often times because the adoption centers protect the mothers more than the orphans. The best thing for them would be hearing direct from their biological mother she doesn't care.

Yes, she was very savvy and realised she could film it from the start and turned into something. She had an acting career and had done a lot of short/minor projects so I'm sure she had friends into film production. In fact she made it clear she did have such friends.

I thought it sounded like Anais spoke Korean but I think the guy was translating - they said he was adopted from Korea to France, appeared he knew both French and Korean and spoke to Anais who spoke to Sam.
