Anyone like the synthpop/industrial revival soundtracks?

I really enjoyed this movie and love the synthpop soundtrack reminiscent of the films Drive and It Follows, all of which are 3 of my favorite soundtracks of all time. I find the atmospheres of these films all very similar and with a sleek, stylish nature similar to 80s films, all done on lower budgets. Does anyone else really enjoy these soundtracks? And for anyone that finds them detracting it'd be interesting to hear reasons why

Loved the soundtrack. I was quite surprised to hear Clan of Xymox. That was a group I loved in the 80s but have barely heard since. Very few kids today would have heard of Clan of Xymox.

Yes the soundtrack is awesome. Made the movie far far better.

The soundtrack was way too good for this lame B-movie. So good it was noticeable throughout.

Anyone that loved this soundtrack should check out season 5 of American Horror Story and also the movie Gypsy 83.

Anyone have any recommendations for movies with similar soundtracks/sounds?

Aside from the already mentioned It Follows, Drive, and AHS: Hotel, I'll recommend Maniac to anyone who hasn't seen it.

But I need more!!!

Check out The Final Girls.

Comedy slasher with 80s vibe and synth music.

Look for these band
perturbator, Gost, dance with the dead, carpenter brut is awesome. Kavisnky. Dan terminus

Great synth bands

I have several albums from each of these bands, including everything Perturbator, Dance with the Dead, and Carpenter Brut have done to date! Great stuff! I was just looking to post that Synthwave and DarkSynth are some great music genres (darksynth being an offshoot of synthwave) that inspire the soundtrack. In fact, a Perturbator song plays in the maze (when the two agents are killed).

Anything scored by tangerine dream has the feel. Thief 1983. Legend. Risky business. Near dark. Four awesome movies

I love it so much. Southbound did it too. And You're Next was released today!

reply

Yes, I got the Tangerine Dream connection instantly, and enjoyed it.

Try listening to anything and everything featured on New Retro Wave's youtube channel. Their compilations on band camp are amazing as well.

I'm pretty sure Cold In July had a synthpop soundtrack as well and I found it an immensely underrated movie. I know Turbo Kid has an amazing soundtrack as well

Enjoy it very much. For example Drive and It follows uses the same kind of soundtrack a bit better though.
