Cliché after cliché
This movie had the makings of a *decent* movie, but like most others, it was plagued with clichés and way-too-long scenes. It started out with promise and then almost put me to sleep when the drawn-out parts just seemed to add stereotypical social issues. The only interested, heartfelt plot was with the homosexual teenage boys. The rest was just a forced dialogue to feel the movie with 'feelings'. I thought Scott did a decent job with his role, but he was not given enough to work with. He was made to look downright cheesy at times and did not come off as depressed. You don't just tell strangers you are going to kill yourself. His character had just baby-steps of development, and in doing so he gave the lead roles to the boys and the subplot of homophobia. I felt like this movie was just a crack at making a thought-provoking film that fell way short. This movie was full of forced comedy (just a few honest chuckles) and very little substance. I gave it a very generous 6/10.
