Sounds a bit like that, has anyone seen both to comment?

Yes something about this film reminded me of Joe vs the Volcano except of course the story in Hologram for the King is much less fantasy and more human.

I've seen both, they are nothing alike
you could draw some parallels, but the story itself doesn't feel anything like the other
