You reckon when Tom Hanks' character states he like Birmingham was a nod to the football team he follows Aston Villa who are based in Birmingham, England?

I mean - you think they would create a several-sentence exchange about goin' to college in Alabama (which was said 3 times) so that they could say 'Birmingham' (also 3 times) in this movie??

. . .of that's true, it's the Only midly interesting thing about this movie so far . . .

It's Hanks response of specifically saying "I like Birmingham" that is of interest, not the conversation. Which I would say is a nod to Aston Villa.

The Univ of Alabama is close to Birmingham. That is where Forrest Gump played football.
