Firstly, that is not a ground for criticism of the film. Secondly, you are wrong. The film is full of anti-Saudi messages - delays, nepotism, simple-minded peasants, incipient rebellion, authoritarianism, exploited workers, inefficiency, corruption, illicit booze, illicit sex, etc. If I was the Saudi authorities, I would ban this film.

It's a balanced look into the modern culture there, and even if you hate them all, you should see the movie so that you'll at least understand more about your enemy, including those "opulent cities" you're talking about. You know, I think one of the main reasons why people fail to live in peace is because there are some sprained minds that believe that we can't live in peace. If you'd bother to see the movie, you'd see it's not about that. It actually runs pretty counter to Islamic culture. A non-Muslum man and a Muslim woman have an affair. In one quite erotic scene, they're snorkeling and she's topless. Also, Hanks is inadvertently driven thru Mecca, a place strictly forbidden for non-Muslims. I'll say it's only a so so movie, but it's hardly Islamic propaganda.
