Shirley Jones

I love how people are critiquing about Shirley's Jones character 'Nana' for being atrocious and well annoying. If you guys don't merely get the hint; her character is intentionally supposed to be annoying. You can tell this is apart of the story when she constantly cries out for her daughter Barbara/Birdie. Nana is relying on Birdie to protect her and the rest of the family. That's what seems to bother Daryl Hannah's character; I thought she was acting quite well... Good job Shirley Jones.

Certainly a unique experience watching Mrs. Partridge become a zombie.

I think that's the whole point and I loved her falling all over herself and chewing the scenery. I could tell she had a ball.

I was watching the movie and instantly thought she was shockingly bad actress. Out of curiousity I looked her up, won an oscar did she?? Must of read out the wrong name, have to hand it to her in this she's unintentionally funny!

reply

There's annoy and then there's so flipping annoying that in reality you are a hindrance and should be taken out of everyone's misery!

Terrible things Lawrence. You've done terrible things.

reply

Yeah I always thought that was interesting, when they'd yell cut she'd be a completely different person, not 'old and feeble' at all. 100% director/actor's choice to deliver the kind of character that you're happy to see die off.

Why did she agree to do this garbage? Does she need money? I would hope not.

This is even much worse than when Joan Crawford did horror movies in the 60s.

reply

Part of it's money, but sometimes even famous actors can't find work and it's nice to just have something to do.

reply

Wrong. All the horror movies Joan Crawford did in the 60's were good and she did great in them.
