What connection got the film Canadian, Ontario and Quebec tax credit?

At 1:46:28 in the ending credits the "Ontario Film & Television Production Services Tax Credit" and "Canadian Film or Video Production Services Tax Credit" are listed and a few seconds later the "Québec Production Services Tax Credit (Sodec)" logo is shown, but I see no other sign of a Canadian connection.

I think the Canadian connection comes from the fact that Charles Martin Smith lives in Canada and has been for a number of years. There is probably some Canadian investors in the film.
