How dumb is the Roy marketing team ?

The users on imdb who gave Roy 10/10 in their user reviews, eg. sonika or digvijayyadav are users who have joined imdb within a month, specially for this purpose, to promote Roy and misguide people.
Don't they know a god-awful movie like Roy would not be able to attract the maximum chunk of the intelligent crowd that visits imdb religiously?

Hi Mr. Cool_jojo_007,

if you knew a film like that was releasing I think is because of the marketing that was done for the film and like you many such people have gone to the theatres to watch the film... just for your information, the film got the biggest box office opening of the year (kindly read the figures - Rs. 10.40cr) So the marketing has definitely worked na..

No, I didn't waste money in the theatre for this piece of sh!t. A film's box office opening depends on not just the first day, it depends on the collection on the subsequent days also. Its budget is 45 crores + 8.5 crores promotion and marketing (Total 54.5 crores). The film needs to make AT LEAST around 110 crores for the distributors to declare it a hit. The kind of awfulness the movie has, I don't think it can fool India's audience. Word of mouth will get around.

AND YOU payal nr, sure look like one of those people who have made an account just to promote this movie (joined in Jan 2015)!! :D

Its absolutely fair that you did not like the film, depends on your taste. While payalnr liked the film, but what it has to do when the user registered in IMDB.

Understanding and expressing opinion about a film has nothing to do with when the user registered. You may feel proud about being an "older" member, but it proves nothing. :D

Coming to the film, again Box Office success is not all, there are many examples where an well made film failed badly at Box Office.

"The kind of awfulness the movie has, I don't think it can fool India's audience. Word of mouth will get around." ---- Hahaha .. Yeah I guess "intelligent" people like you spread the "word of Mouth" to make films like Dabanng, Kick, Wanted a Box Office Hit. While a film which is less filmy and more closer to life seems awful to you.

Keep it up. Spread the "Word of Mouth"

Iam a big Ranbir fan. And what did I see?
A 'Pathetic' movie. Thank god its not a Ranbir Kapoor movie. (extended cameo)

It's a disconcerting trend on IMDb..these kind of film marketing/promotion/desperate investor's tactics are becoming common, especially with the low budget indie type productions.
IMDb cannot be unaware, but solutions are not easy.
However, as you say, savvy users would quickly discount flowery reviews, votes of '10', ,reviewer's claims that those voting low 'just don't get it' or, simply people like 'payalnr' trying to put a positive spin on a dismal reality, for new films.
