Better than I expected

It's darker and arguably more thoughtful than most superhero films and perhaps that's why it was so poorly received. But I quite enjoyed that and I thought Affleck made a pretty good Batman - I think it's a pity he's walked away from the role. I particularly liked Jeremy Irons as Alfred but I guess that's the last we'll see of his sarky butler. The only dud was Jesse Eisenberg and as he apparently tweaked some of his own lines I think he has to carry at last some of the blame.

- Weak villains: Luthor was annoying and Doomsday was a visually incoherent mess

- The script fumbled all of the key dramatic moments

- It rushed Superman’s character development from “Man of Steel”

- Too much awkward set-up for “Justice League” crowbarred in

But, yeah, the majority of the casting was fine, it was a good intro for Wonder Woman, the film looked slick and the central conflict between Superman and Batman was fine.

All of these DCU films are peppered with good ideas. There’s just a lack of overall quality control needed to make them all on par with “Wonder Woman”.

I'm glad you enjoyed this.

It was actually pretty deep and artistic, with some memorable shots and one of the best superhero vs. superhero fights ever. Civil War had a similar storyline but was cheesy and forgettable compared to this.

Wonder Woman was great. Batman plotting to fight a superior being was awesome, as was seeing him in pain and fear for his life when Superman was stronger than he bargained for. Watching the Batman take out a warehouse full of armed thugs was incredible. Lex was annoying at first but kind of grew on me in later watchings. The Congressional hearing was a total shock -- Marvel would never do anything so raw and real. Zack Snyder isn't for everyone, but he doesn't get enough credit for what he's good at.

Agreed. This is a film. The Marvel movies are popcorn movies. I'm not trying to trash talk the Marvel movies. Obviously people like them and that's good but this felt like a graphic novel some to life and I will never, ever, understand the hate it gets.

Yeah it was great until the whole MARTHHAAAAAAAAAA thing fucked it.
