Both films.......not sure I get their defense

Ok so first movie they shield the windows and stuff. I know there is a throw away line that "this stuff isn't suppose to happen here" so that's why they aren't stronger. Yet still just like the second movie the women hide in an apartment with a reinforced door. You have all night to get into a place. The walls aren't reinforced so just take a chain saw through the walls or even a simple shotgun got him through in 10 seconds.

For the first movie why not just drive a truck full speed into the house bam instant entrance

in the first one it's usually just the rich people praying on the poor people, Rich don't attack Rich on purge night, the poor are hiding out trying to survive the night from the rich so most people don't have to worry about somebody driving a truck through the house or taking the chain saw through the wall

yeah but i find that crazy that rich doesn't attack rich. i mean if i own a car dealership (rich) i would definitely want to take out the family of a competing car dealership in my town no?

Sure, but it's not about that. The entire Purge is just sold as this "Do what you want. Release the beast! Kill people that wronged you!" celebration. However, it's very clear that the rich attack the poor (probably through indoctrination as well), because the poor are "what's wrong" with the country. The Purge just doesn't clearly state "Rich people are allowed to kill poor people", because that would upset the masses. I mean we see in the second movie that this revolutionary leader has to spell it out for the people and even the grandpa of the girl is like "Ah he's just talking *beep* like he doesn't really believe the whole rich vs poor thing.

I think it would be the opposite. If I am living in a crappy apartment that I can't afford to reinforce, why stay there all night? I might as well go out and try to steal from the rich.

Actually, rich attacking the rich is exactly what happens in first movie. First the young psycho people, then the neighbours.
