Why so much hate for a kids movie?

Why do so many people waste their time coming on to this board saying they hate the series?? It's a harmless kids movie, my 6 year old daughter loved it, I can't imagine she'd sit through Star Wars!! Not every movie needs to be an artistic masterpiece.. So much negativity, it's sad :(

Cause everyone loves to throw tantrums like a bunch of whiny six year olds, even supposed "adults" (by age only, not mentality). That's the real waste of humanity here.

I don't get it either. This movie looks terrible to be honest, but I see it as harmless fun for kids.

Because being a "kid"s movie" is not an excuse for bad storytelling.

It's because you will always get geeks on these pages who have no life other than in the cinema or sitting in their bedrooms watching films. They will never have lives, nor families. Real people like all films and just watch them. My kids get to see every film whether its Alvin, SpongeBob, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, or Minions. They also like the Fast and the Furious (which I hate), but who cares? Western cinema is the best in the World- for good or bad- if you don't like it, *beep* off to an Islamic country and see what you get. PS I am British and proud of American, English, and European cinema.

Thought it was adorable and I'm 48. I like how they make children's movies adults can sit through.

Same here, and to me, it had a great storyline, especially compared to how in the past, they were kinda choppy at best, where this one, actually has a story, of how 3 brothers felt afraid of losing the only guy they felt was like a father to them, while feeling threatened by another "Alvin" whom was human, instead of Chipmunk, coming into the family, and taking the spotlight off of them, and making it feel like it was a chaotic world for them. I also liked how in the end, they made it so "Dave" legally adopted them, with that special surprise, to let them know, how much he cared and loved them, as his own, not just some leech(Like I bet more then 1/2 of these "haters" most-likely are.). Granted, this is just my own opinion, and yes, I am 38yrs old, and yes, I also grew-up on the original Chipmunk shows, along with Scooby-Doo, and so many others, that these newbie brats have no idea even existed, because they are more worried about their stupid cell phones and all that crap, instead of going out, and finding real friends, and seeing their real face, not through a cell phone! Not to mention, how back in the day, we actually didn't have to be sitting/standing right next to each other, while texting each other. Which to me, is the most stupidest thing in the world!

Same here. 48 and I loved it. p.s. We have no kids.

I'm going to take a lot of flack for this, but I liked it way better than the Revenant.

Hello friend! Don't worry about that people who waste their time on hate messages, they don't tolerate what they hate! The movie is wonderful, if your daughter love it, that is the most important thing! Do you know why? If there are people who love them, the producers will always have a reason to make CGI movies!

Have a great day!

I thought the movie was cute. The Grandchildren loved it! They were dancing during the last song. I thought the music was a definite plus. It was worth seeing this film just for the fun of it!

It's not sad. Movies like this could make your kids dumber and THAT'S what's sad. It deserves every ounce of hate it gets when movies like How to Train Your Dragon and Inside Out exist.

"But it's a ROCK!"
"I KNOW IT'S A ROCK!"

reply

No, they don't, not more or less than every existing movies. You cannot compare How To Train Your Dragon and Inside Out to Alvin and the Chipmunks, they aren't musical movies or live-action movies.

You hate / don't like Alvin and the Chipmunks, fine, it's your feeling, your taste, your opinion, but don't believe this must be followed by everyone just because of that, not more than believing yourself more intelligent than other people.

"Movies like this could make your kids dumber and THAT'S what's sad."
So you have kids, and you let movies educate them, interesting...

I think you would've spent your money better by renting INSIDE OUT.
Not every movie needs to be an artistic masterpiece.

You're right... but it doesn't mean we have to endure and forgive lazy filmmaking.
