Hanh and Korean Culture/ Identity

Hello , this is to any koreans who might go on this forum. A lot of korean Cinema have themes that are related to revenge, shame, honour and vengeance. Espccailly unfulfilled vengeance. I was looking into it - and it seems there is a word for this that is unique to all asian words and indeed unique to the Korean identity, and it is called Hanh- it is roughly translated, from what i can gather , to a pain in the gut, a pain in the soul and stomach- a wrenching ache- that comes from unfulfilled vengeance and suffering. My question is:

could someone of a korean background fill me in on this aspect- and meaning, and inform me as to the exact meaning of this cultural concept??? i know that it is unique to the korean identity and one need only look at korean cinema to see it everywhere in their films. Im a filmmaker and also a film academic and would love to hear/read/learn more about it- but information is scant. if anyone has any understanding of this concept- please hit me up- would love to start a dialogue/discussion about this....
