Does anyone else think this show looks terrible? The trailer is so... Cliche; reminiscent of every other show about a quirky character in a serious world. The scene where she's dancing in the street makes me cringe. And the delivery of her lines. I'll give the pilot a shot but it's looking like a bad show already.
Mental illness is a serious issue, but it doesn't look like this show will be tackling it tactfully. I agree with the OP--the trailers look absolutely dreadful.
The fact that ABC is running adverts pretty much during EVERY program has turned me off already. It seems like they know it's bad but they have to somehow get people to watch it.
The premise of showing someone with mental illness who struggles with everyday life was a good one. The show, and acting is laughable. Every scenario is played to the hilt. Okay, so maybe she has impulse control, but what about the doctor who was just about to do BRAIN SURGERY and ends up naked in a store room. The show is as ridiculous as the bandages on the male brain surgery patient's head. It's a shame. They had a chance to show bipolar disorder in a relatable way and instead turned it into a bad soap opera.
I didn't bother watching any of it but yeah, unfortunately mental illness is constantly romantisized as a gift and a curse. I'm still seeing commercials for this show and every time I see her dancing in the street I wanna tear my *beep* eyes out. I thought tv/film would be beyond this *beep* already.
