It's safe to say...

... this film doesn't work.

Is the exposition at the beginning that 'you have to make a fiction to depict something true' an excuse for this wasteful and directionless film?

If you want to see a film that takes a book and places the author of that book in the film, yet still communicates the essence of the book, watch Philomena.

If you want a film that takes a fascinating real-life story and murders it with artifice - watch Frank.

If you want to know more about the Meredith Kercher murder - look it up online. There's nothing to see here.

After the Russell Brand film and this, I am fast losing my respect for Winterbottom.

That does not count's at all. You can make any movie with many pretty people in it, but what's the point of it? This movie does not makes any sense at all.

Totally agree. The movie is a complete waste of time and the contextual setting, just one huge red herring.

After Genova, also set in Italy (and terrible), I think the guy is just losing the plot. I'm surprised producers are happy to let him keep helming these turkeys.🐭

The BBC and Channel 4 are happy to fund Winterbottom films. He is prolific, varied and his films are cheap to make.

It's that man again!!
