Why did the Sarge shout at her to "turn around!"

That whole confrontation seemed contrived and unnecessary.

I was left feeling there was something I didn't get.

He wanted to check out her ass. He was a horny old perv. What do you expect?

reply

Maybe he was seeing things too.

Think of other scenes later:

Remember Officer Price? He talks to her for awhile about her dad, then when he turns to leave, he has a giant gunshot hole in the back of his head.

Sarge was checking to see if she was real/alive or another dead cop.

Thank you

Interesting theory. If true, that means he is a HUGE a hole. If he knows about the maniac demons, why would he leave the rookie daughter cop of the man who killed said undead demons there overnight on the one year anniversary of his death, then come back to kill her when she went crazy?! HAHA what a jerk. I feel like this movie is supposed to be a parody and it's just going over your heads, I laughed a lot during it at things like this.

NICE, I was wondering about that myself. Your interpretation is clever. He had been yelling like a stressed out madman when she arrived, which also makes sense if he had been enduring what she would.

And I guess he let her stay, because the haunting didn't ever demonstrate the power to hurt people--just mess with them. If he could get through it, then so could she.

He did say "don't leave, no matter what," though. Why was it so important to him that she not wuss out and leave?

reply

I'm wondering if he offered her up as a sacrifice to the ghosts if they left him alone.

I thought the same thing (about the reason he yelled at her to turn around). He was checking if she was real.

And the same thing about the reason he didn't say anything to her. Both of them tried to tough up and pretend there was nothing weird going on. They are policemen, in the end. Would you admit to a rookie you see for the first time in your life that you are seeing things?

Not the best decision for him, of course, to leave her alone and then also react the way he reacted on the phone.
