Uhh... that was SCARY.

I've seen a lot of horror films. And yeah.. this was totally low-budget and not without a few flaws. But seriously. This one got me. I wasn't expecting it to.

I know. The main character should have fled the building within the first half an hour of the film, or aht least until she figured out the cop who came to "check on her" had a hole in the back of his head (that scene messed me up good). But I was able to overlook the questionable stuff because the atmosphere and mood were just so sinister/menacing, the images so absolutely demented, and the scares so JARRING.

Flame me all you want. I don't scare easily anymore and I actually had to use a good amount of willpower in order to refrain from turning the movie off at several points. The build-up of dread was relentless. Truly nightmarish horror flick. Liked the acting as well.

You're not alone. This film was scary, creepy, and overall frickin' awesome!

Nobody will burn you for feeling the way you do. I literally just got done watching it, and I'm impressed. There was the obvious jump scares, but there was also some amazing visual jolts as well. This film had A Sinister/Oculus feel to it. The Sinister bond
Vibe, and the disorienting Oculus flow. Really good diamond in the rough. 7/10

Ditto to all your posts. I have a thing about watching horror films on Netflix. Rarely do any stick. But this one....whoo...really got under my skin. The pacing, the atmosphere...I was thrown way off guard when Officer Price turned around with that hole in his head. This was really disturbing, but really well done IMO.

Agreed. I watch a lot of horror movies, too, and generally don't get shaken up by them anymore. But this one, yeah ... very unsettling and scary despite more than a few cliches and flaws.

OTOH, many of the procedural flaws can be explained away if she was actually crazy and imagining everything. You just don't know, which is one of the things that makes the movie so creepy.

I agree. The creeping dread had me thoroughly freaked and stressed out and I consider myself quite the horror buff.

I agree completely! I kept scrolling past this on Netflix as the box art looks pretty cheesy, and way over the top. I, however, could not believe how good this movie was. Most great horror movies have about 1 or 2 genuine "Oh *beep* moments that you remember long after they're over, but this one had several.

The atmosphere, the pacing, the anticipation. Every intended scare was actually scary. At the end of the movie, when they were all in the cell, I genuinely had to look away from the screen momentarily as that image was just too unsettling to be watching home alone at night lol. I don't even remember the last time a movie got me like that.

I'll be looking out for anything from this group of filmmakers.

reply

Agreed. Very few films scare me anymore, but this one was genuinely unsettling and creepy.

I'm glad I'm not alone in appreciating this movie - it definitely sticks with you. Sure, it's got some glaring oversights, but it's still well done.

Unsettling was a very good way of putting it. There is a lot of stuff in this movie that makes you go 'this isn't right' and it is all very unsettling.

I don't scare easily either and this movie brought many freaky images and creepy atmosphere.Of course I am watching it all by myself at 1 am.

Me fail English? But, that's unpossible.

Well yeah! One thing is to try to toughen up to creepy sounds and cleaning a hobo's piss, another - carry on investigating it on your own after you see a guy with a hole in his head. Personally, I would have packed my things not later than the scene with a flashlight in the holding cell, because at the very least I would acknowledge I am being high and hallucinating and therefore unsuitable to continue the shift. Come on. Loren has a supposedly innocent man locked up in a cell, she clearly sees stuff, the man is her responsibility if she loses her marbles - it's her duty at this point to call for help at least to ensure that the man is not in danger, if not for her own sake.
