She's not that into him

I think he liked her more. Thoughts ?

reply

the movie presents his side of things. of course that from his side it's all about showing his feelings, not hers

reply

Well.. If she was that into him then she wouldn't have agreed to marry another guy and said their relationship was too hard. And she wouldn't say things like "you don't make me happy".

reply

She thought he wasn't that into her. She was hurt by him not proposing. She was hurt by him saying he liked her b/c she likes him. She didn't want to hear the "like" word.

She went for the other guy b/c he loved her. Not b/c she was more into him.

I don't think so- she also said that thing about their relationship always trying to find a perfect balance, meaning she wasn't content. Ultimately she just seemed almost bored with him a lot. He was a "5 minute from now" person while she was a "now" person. "Now" people get bored easily and are impulsive, like that phone call when he was in New York and she was in LA. She hung up on him to listen to a song while he just started his neurotic boring blabbing

I have to wonder why there aren't more posts about how terrible Kimberly was to him.

reply

She was so mean to him. I can't believe how mean she was sometimes. How can you love someone and be so casually mean to them? And yet he kept loving her. Why? Moral of the story is probably that he was a positive part of her life that allowed her to eventually be happy with someone else, while his life was just consumed by her and rendered meaningless. Bleak.

I think she was that into him at the hotel. She kept mentioning marriage and starting a family... he was the one who was gun shy about it. But I think after they got back together, she was never as into it as he was. It's like he realized what he lost when they broke up and fought for her, but she was over it by then.

I think it was a timing thing.

Yeah, true. And you could tell he loved her too, but not in the way she needed to be loved. Which is why she moved on. There is this quote "even if someone doesn't love you the way you want to be loved, does not mean they don't love you as best they can" or something similar to that effect

Bingo! that is exactly what it is

Humankind cannot bear very much reality

I think he liked her more, too, but really, I'm not quite sure...considering the ending. Maybe she changed her mind on marrying that other guy and they did end up together? Although something made me doubt that.

reply

Well the ending showed two suns rising, I think it was meant to symbolize that in one universe they didn't end up together, while in another one, they did.

You missed a trick there. Your thread should read 'She's just not that into him'.

I Sympathise with Lars Von Trier.
