Kate left Andy :-(

Figured something was up with her not using his name anymore

reply

Ya, he seems all broken up about it. NOT

like one couldn't see that coming...

I don't understand your weird toddler-emoji language.

reply

He'd often talk down to her on camera, like one of the dogs...so,imagine how he treated her when they were alone....Taking a *beep* in the woods would grow old real quick too,I'm sure.

reply

This had "domestic abuse" written all over it from day one. Andy comes across as a tightly wound loose cannon ready to explode at the sightest provocation. When you factor alcohol into the equation, the results can be explosive!

Kate did the right thing by getting out while she still could.

If the producers of the show want to take it up a notch they should have Sue pay Andy a visit, maybe have them work on some project together. Can you imagine the ensuing fourth of july fireworks when those two eventually butt heads and we know they will!

reply

What evidence have you got regarding alcohol abuse? This guy is one of the most isolated as any on the show. He does not have a still.

You are talking out of your ass.

.

reply

Jimcat, Andy and Kate talked about and sampled their home brew beer at least once on the program. It was after a long day working and they both seemed to really look forward to it. However, I don't see any evidence of alcohol abuse in what they present on the program either.

Another point, it should not be assumed that the problem is with Andy. Kate seems like she could be a handful too. What is she doing in the house while Andy is out working alone all day? Hmmm...home brew?

reply

Thank you. I didn't know he had a little home brew, but even so, I doubt there was enough to 'abuse'. A bottle or two after a hard day.

Kate spent 10 years with him. Perhaps she simply wished to move back to a town and live more comfortably. It is a pretty harsh existence.

I would not be surprised if being around the film crew influenced her.

.

reply

Do you ever watch the show jackass?

He's been shown numerous times going into town to pickup his home brew "Yukon Brewing" kit.

Ever on camera this guy talks to Kate like she's one of the dogs. I can only imagine what its like when there's no crew around.

reply

Wild speculation. You have no idea why she left. For all you know, she may be the one that was abusive to him. All you see is what's on camera.

reply

Why would you insult someone for using emojis? IMDb provides them to be used.
It has nothing to do with toddler-like behavior. Some people like them and some people don't. Kind of like the opinions on this board. .. 

reply

Why are you sticking your nose in comments to others that have nothing to do with you? Trying to cause problems where there are none?
Mind your own buisness bud.

reply

My wife always hated how he could be so mean to Kate. Not surprising at all.

You incessantly post emojis because:
1)you feel as though you're being ignored and feel the need to put colourful cartoons up.
2) you're 11 and don't understand the adults conversation.
3)you're mentally retarded and are immediately attracted to bright cartoons and again, don't understand the adults conversation.

In any case STOP IT, it's beyond stupid.
If you don't have a verbal thought to add, leave the thread alone.
God, I hope you're simple mind can understand what I'm saying.

I was a bit saddened also.. and no one can know for what reason(s). Although, I do wonder why their new cabin was never finished.. I know it was a big deal to both of them. Regardless, it feels like there's a chance Kate will return after time apart. I feel for Andy having spent winter alone.

reply

as indicated numerous times in the program.

Andy worked carpentry in the DC area but had numerous busts for possession with intent to distribute so he fled to AK to start fresh. His AK cash income came from the (modest) sale of it up there which allowed for the relatively lavish lifestyle they led versus that of, say, Glen. His prime factory was behind the chicken koop.

This was too much for his wife who moved to Fairbanks to marry a podiatrist.

I heard Kate moved to Dawson City and is now workng as a can-can dancer at the Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall. She's dating some guy who mines for gold on the Bering Sea!

Andy on the other hand has stepped up his game by dropping the small time heroin dealing in favor of big time crystal meth production in what was formerly his prime factory out by the chicken coop. He won't stop until he rules the entire state of Alaska. He even has an alter ego and likes to refer to himself as "The Bassman"!

reply

I think Andy misses her more for helping him with his chores than as a real female companion.

reply

Yea he looked pretty bummed when he was talking about all the things he has to do now. Hell, even just taking care of that many dogs is at least 2-3 hours of work minimum by yourself every day.

reply

I love Andy's dogs. He's a jackass. I wasn't surprised she left him. Imagine being stuck inside with that guy for months at a time.

reply

On her fb page, she has posted that she's going to write a book about abused women in Alaska. She's had a pretty rough time of it. Andy physically, verbally and emotionally abused her for along time. When she left, I heard she had to get the state troopers there.

reply

Andy wasn't in the final episode last season and I hope he is gone. Reading this makes me even more disgusted with him. Good for her to get out of there and away from the jerk.

I would guess the isolation makes an abuser think they can get away with it because there is nobody around.

reply

I've only watched a few eps of this show, but i know a prick when i see one, and Andy Bassich isn't just a prick, he's a dumb, nasty, incompetent fu$kin prick.

Tipping his greenhouse frame over, then blaming his missus. Seriously, if he'd pulled that *beep* with me i'd have effing buried the a-hole 6 feet down and reported him missing...

Losing his own boat on the river and then whining about it for hours like a total douche. And when he found the boat, he emptied out all the valuable water in it so he could pull the boat out by hand - if the idiot had taken a longer rope (instead of the effing pump) he could've just run the rope back to his other boat and pulled it out with all his water intact.

Total. Douche.

reply

Can you imagine Andy and Sue getting together? She would kick his ass so far he would end up in Russia!

reply

I noticed his abuse from the first time I saw them.

It's amazing how many people defend him. He was a total ass and though I don't watch the show and anymore, I'm happy to hear she fled his ass. Good for Kate.

reply

I've only seen the last two seasons but from one episode I saw where Andy needed Kate's help with something her back was hurting bad and she could hardly stand and needed to go inside. I certainly understand that as I have many health issues along with a bad back and that would be a very HARD lifestyle for someone with back or other health problems. She discussed it a little bit. That was shortly before they were gone from the show.

I have been wondering what the numerous buildings around Andys homestead were. I didn't know if he had relatives or hired help that lived there or what. Just like in the old west AK is a place people with lives that were going bad go to either to hide and continue or start fresh. With the postings about him selling there to have a modest outcome did he say that? I don't think he would go on the show and draw attention himself if he was manufacturing or dealing. That makes no sense. I have thought his buildings appear to be well built so makes sense he was a carpenter and has those skills. I know if you want a nice homestead he could have building for wood, obviously he has the dog supplies, fish storage as they harvested a lot of fish from their wheel, other storage etc but there are a lot of buildings and some big size from the arial footage. Just curious what they are all for. Since I haven't seen the show from the start it made me wonder if he also had a lodge during certain times of the year but I've seen nothing to hint at that on the bit I have seen with him.
