Andy and Sue aren't going to live to old age

Both live alone. I doubt if they have wireless communication on them. They're falling off their dog sled and skidoos. Being alone they could sprain an ankle and freeze to death very easily as they get older and less capable.

reply

Andy seems to have a pretty modern set up as does Sue. They aren't Glenn.

reply

I'm sure both Andy and Sue are aware of the dangers they face.

reply

There have been people live alone in the bush well into their 80's.

Yeah look at a guy like Dick Proenneke (google him) he lived alone in the Alaskan wilderness til he was 82-years old. Amazing bloke. He was actually a middle-aged man when he decided to go live in the wild, building his own log cabin entirely by hand - no electric- or gasoline powered tools at all.

reply

That series on Dick was extremely well done. He lived the way he wanted to live and it was fascinating to watch.

Much like this show.

Yes and he really lived alone in that log cabin by Twin Lakes for almost thirty years, no one near him only bears, wolverines, wolfs and moose plus all the other not so dangerous animals living in the wilderness.

I have a deeply and profound respect for a man like him, because he was a real man, and I think that the reason why so many men are drawn to that lifestyle is a deep-seated longing for the free life in nature as our ancestors had. It is a simple and laborious life, but also the ultimate freedom.

I agree. I admit I don't think I could life that life style. I can fish but it's more of a hobby not a need for survival. You can't help but to admire people who live like that.

reply

I doubt I could too, not today, and not at my age. Maybe when I was younger, and I'm also only fishing today. I used to hunt too, but not anymore. Not that I'm too old to hunt, but I don't find any joy in it anymore. I prefer to let the animals live these days. :)

Andy has a satellite dish! And probably a ham radio. He'll be fine, as long as he stays away from other people.

Sue will die via snowmobile -- the way she drives them is silly, stupid and dangerous. Never mind the cold the bears and the wolves, she'll die by her own hand. I can just picture it now: lying face down in the snow with a snowmobile on top of her, "Well, ain't this a sumbitch way to die!"
