Amusing movie if you don't read too much into it.

If you regard the interior of this country as "flyover country", just some place you pass through on your way to somewhere else, and you are unwilling to look for the value in 90% of the land mass of the US, I can save you an hour and a half -- don't watch it. Why would a movie focused upon people and a way of life you hold in contempt appeal to your preconceived notions?

It's a sweet movie, but in a "Just-So" sort of way -- of course the doc speeds past the local cop with a bunch of parking tickets, of course she is launched into a new life she'd never have considered under any other circumstances, and of course she discards her old life for the new. In the meantime, she answers the prayers of everyone in the small town, and of course she fills the void in her big-city life with a meaningful life.

If you're from flyover country, you'll enjoy it, but just remember -- it'll never happen in real life. It's an entertaining movie, and takes you away from reality for a little while -- I really enjoyed it -- but, then, I'm from flyover country, so what the heck would I know about good and bad movies.
