NC or Louisiana??? Satellite iPhones???

I bought this movie at my local Christian bookstore for $5 (thank goodness I didn't pay more than that because 20 minutes in and the discrepancies are killing me!). The synopsis on the back of the DVD box says that Dr. Leland/Candace Cameron gets stuck in Normal, North Carolina. However, in the movie, she is talking on the phone to her fiance and tells him that she is just crossing the border into Louisiana from Texas, and she then gets pulled over immediately after that phone call. In addition to that, there is a map of Louisiana hanging on the wall of the judge's office. So, what state is she in?

Also, apparently Dr. Leland is having trouble getting cell phone reception because of a mountain blocking the needed satellite. Not only does the waitress explain this to her in great detail, but, just before this scene, Leland/Candace Cameron also explains to the man in the truck (who clearly has a name, but I didn't finish watching the movie) that there are satellites in the sky, and that's how her cell phone works (or something to that effect...she's just trying to make him feel dumb). Last time I checked, iPhones get their signal from a cellular tower, NOT from satellites. Sat phones are big and bulky and usually have a good-sized antenna on them.

Seriously, who wrote this movie???

Hey Mkaleto,

I really enjoyed watching this film, but I had the same the same thoughts about the whole satellite thing. Like you, I wondered how someone, anyone would not realize that cell phones work via cell towers. Oh well, I did get over it and enjoyed the story.

Best wishes,
