This game isn't survival horror.

It started off a bit too hard and now its piss easy as hell as long as you know what you're doing but it still has some difficult moments.

The locations are nice and everything and the characters aren't bad but the story is a huge wtf mess that doesn't make any sense yet.

Made it to Chapter 9 and so far this game hasn't shook me the way Alien Isolation for example did. This game is so pathetically cliche and predictable that I'm not surprised one bit. It was made by the hypocrite of so called survival horror afterall.

Don't get me wrong, the game has its moments but at the same time its leaving me annoyed. The Creator talks s..t on Capcom and his previous creation but here he has a game that so obviously takes thing from every single RE game and Silent Hill and RE Beta's versions that he himself said didn't work at the time that it pisses me off that a hypocrite like him can get such praise.

Kinda agree. But you gotta be in the right mood. I wish the whole game was in a creepy indoor setting. Play it with headphones kinda helps. But its good to know people are trying to keep the genre alive. I pretend its a Resident Evil beta we finally got to play.

definitely a Resident Evil 4 +++ game.

Na...I wouldn't even compare it to Resident Evil 4 besides the first three chapters. 4 was better. Longer. And had back-tracking and more. Evil Within feels like a rip-offed mess of every known horror and action game bundled into one. From Chapter 7 I have been enjoying it alot but...its still slightly annoying and its got alot of things in it that fans bitched abot RE5 and RE6 having which the director for this complained about and it really shows what a hypocrite he is by using and doing the same things.

Why are people hating on this game it's a horror game that is a horror game it's a survival horror and reminisce of Resident Evil i've just started chapter 3 and am fairly enjoying my Evil within experience.

Meh. I'm having a blast with it. Can't please everybody.

I myself have finished the game on Survival and Nightmare.
I have to say I do agree with you on some parts, chapter 6, 11 and 12 are the worst "Shooter" experience ever, it's completely disappointing, and leans too much on Call of Duty and a lot of "pew pew".
However I feel like the rest of the chapters are pretty awesome, that's about 12 chapters.
The atmosphere in the 12 chapters is pretty horror related, which does make them nice and spooky, and I am an old Survival Horror fan from the first Resident Evil games 1-3, NOT RE4 as it was more focused on action, and the first Silent Hill games, so I am very picky on that part.

When that's said, I feel exactly like you at times, annoyed and thinking about the creator promising to much on the game, years ago before the release.
If the game had the same gameplay as in the first chapter, where you really are trying to survive, it would have been a lot better.

I think it IS survival horror, although with more offensive fighting than you'd expect in this genre...a good deal of shooting weaponry.

To me, what makes it survival horror is you're given very scant supplies and you are forced to conserve. This isn't "DOOM". It's a great feeling to be superlow on ammo and then come across a room to replenish. The lack of ammo at certain late sections of the game is highly unfair but it requires a GREAT deal of conservation and very careful aiming. Not easy when there are 10+ creatures after you all at once.
