Is it really that tough?

I want to try this game, but I am worried the difficulty might be too difficult.

Is it really that difficult? I am a normal setting gamer. I have played through Resident Evil 2 and 4.

It's no tougher than the average game (playing it on the hardest setting here). It has moments that are difficult, but what game doesn't? It's a survival-horror experience and it's all about how you play. I'm on chapter 9 so far and am loving it.

I don't think you are playing on the hardest setting. For that you have to have finished the game and you die from one hit of anything.

This game is more stressful than actually hard. It's really stressful if you're the type of person who is super conservative with ammo and supplies. This game often puts you in situations where you have *just* enough ammo/items to get out alive. I'm the type of person who will have three bullets left and then miss (waste) two out of the three shots. My third shot will be a headshot and all is well, but I'll reload the game and put myself through the fight again just to not waste those two bullets --- really stressful if you're paranoid as hell about running out of supplies, but not hard. If you're a bit more carefree and just roll with it, the game is probably less stressful.

The parts that are difficult are usually difficult because the game throws you into a trial and error situations where you can't really know which direction to run or what levers to pull until you try. And usually on your first few tries you'll not know exactly where to go or what to do, causing you to die, but not because it requires any skill, it just requires you to try a few times and get the lay of the land.

A good example of this is in the middle of the game (no spoilers), you get stuck being chased by an enemy, in a gas-filled chamber that is slowly poisoning you, and the game makes no indication of what you're supposed to do. The first time you try, you'll likely be tempted to take the enemy down so he stops chasing you. But then the game just respawns the enemy endlessly, meaning you've just wasted supplies and time, but there's no way you could have known that would happen until you tried it.

Not as difficult as I thought. Stressful, as is mentioned here, yes, and to me also very annoying and confusing at points. I also hate tricky bosses (although I didn't use that many attempts at most of them in PB). I could do without a single boss for the rest of my gaming life. The situation based, button pushing of RE4 was unfortunately not part of this game. It's worth playing once, maybe even twice (since it's not that long), but I'm not sure about a third time.

Maybe you got your answer by this Point,

Mine is Nope, it isnt that hard. Start on Survivor mode, youll manage good if you played RE4 as described on normal.

I didnt play Evil Within on console, PC and Survivor mode wasnt a problem.

Thanks for all the responses. I just finished it last night on survival. It was tense and stressful at times. I had the most trouble with some of those bosses.

Great game.

Not really that hard, it is stressful because of the limited ammo (I had to begin a chapter again because after wasting ammo to get to a place i just didnt got enought ammo to kill the things. Also, some of the bosses are frustrating, specially the long haired bitch

But it´s not "so hard you can´t get pleasure from it" like, say, THOSE GOSHDARNET DARK SOULS games

reply

Yes, that long haired bitch (Laura I think her name was?) was definitely the hardest thing in the game. I got so frustrated. It took me HOURS to beat her...I kept shooting her and throwing bolts at her....I shot her I don't know how many times and the just wouldn't die!!!! Finally, I got it, but dayum!!!

I bought this game as a christmas gift for my sister. She beat the game just fine. I played the DC where you play as the woman running around with no weapon.... I thought it was kinda of hard but more aggravating since there was no weapons unless you were battling a boss. Spoiler: One part of the game you battle one of her male friends bc Ruvik turns him evil...and he comes after you. There's an axe you can use. another part that got on my nerves was when this weird ass creature with legs and a lightbeam(like a flashlight) as a body and face chases you in one of the science facility buildings. The electricity goes out and you have to hide behind this shelves in the room..but you have to keep moving and not let it see you...if she does you can run quickly to the otherside out of sight and stay crouched until it no longer aware of you. Once the electricity gets back to 100 you can run to the elevator. I died like 3 times. The dc is just as odd as the game. It's only two chapters. So go ahead and play the assignment afterwards ..the camera is not weird and shaky like the initial game. That's why I decided to play this versus the actual game.

Best way to describe this game....it's one of those games that seems hard at the start. As you start to go along it gets easy. Yes there are moments where you'll find yourself wondering what you're supposed to do but I've played so many games that are much more stressful than this one. The thing about this is game is that there are enemies that you don't have to kill, just run away. Although there are a few that you must kill to go on to the next area.
if you want to conserve ammo, this might not be the game for you. you will find yourself running low all the time. Luckily the game somehow works with you to get more or find a way. For example, theres a construction site area where some enemies are in a cage. Every once in a while, a few would be released and come after you. i ran out of ammo. I found some laying about and started to notice how some of the enemies would kill each other accidentally and leave ammo behind. Also it's best to locate all the small statues that you must break. They give you keys that unlock lockers back at the hospital. many of them have ammo and green gel. the ammo in the lockers helped me out many times.
