lacks someone with an eye for details
I agree that this movie could have been much better by someone paying attention to some important visual aspects--after all, it is a visual medium. There are too many closeups of unattractive facial features and overacting, particularly the lead actress working every wrinkle and muscle in her face and her husband's plain, too-old-for-her face. She also has a too refined, sophisticated face that doesn't fit the role of someone who says "runnin'" and "talkin'", and decorates her house in that dowdy way.
Her sister's first appearance with her upswept hairdo was disastrous--extremely unattractive--made me want to look away! Good Grief! Thank goodness she had her hair down for the rest of the movie.
Then we had to suffer through closeups of Brianna's endless crying on the witness stand.
Nevertheless, the plot was interesting, and kept me watching.
