What a disappointment

Quite a hype in spain, it left me feeling that people raving about it may be shallow and have his heart on the toes and his mind in the ass. I mean, it's ok, has it's funny moments, it makes fun of some absurd old historical heredated hates and some light social tabus, but as a film it doesn't works for me at all neither at intellectual or emotional level. It's starts feeling frash and nice, but quicly gets stupid, dull and predictable. I'm happy I didn't paid a cent for watching it.

yeah, no. everyone raved about this but it's really dani rovira's one man show and a bad one too. the southern stereotypes and humor gets old pretty fast. and the main female character is 100% flat with no motivation other than lie to her father all the way through.

The trouble with any movie that becomes the best selling movie of all time (in Spain) is that it's never going to live up to that level of hype.

It's a decent movie, a solid 7 I would say, but it is help is higher esteem because really Spain doesn't produce many decent films, in fact most are really outdated when it comes to comedy films, so when one comes out that's not too bad, we as a nation tend to go crazy over it.

It is hilarious. But very difficult that any foreigner gets the jokes... Yes, it is rather stupid, and it plays with stereotypes (and very funny they are too). But it is also an important movie, for Spain. It could not in a million years have been possible 10 years ago... Being able to laugh about this stuff... It shows how far we have come, and it makes us realise that we are finally waking up from a long nightmare of terror. I am still amazed that this movie was made, and at how it was received.
