I thought her mum came off quite thick so i'm surprised she knew enough to do so much stuff online, wouldn't have thought she had the brain cells

I think that the mother being good at computer and phone social media trickery was the best kind of parent/child role reversal twist in this movie. No one expects the older generation to outfox the younger generation on such matters. The mother was deceptively clever at doing this. She just slipped up on using a pet word mistake. 'Precede' for 'Proceed.' But clever people can have such blind spots as this with word or spelling errors.
