Loved the book

Loved the book, but let's face it, without Colin Firth as Darcy, how can this possibly be good? To be fair, I haven't seen it, so will I eat my words when I do?

Matthew Rhys is an excellent Mr Darcy.

I agree. In fact, I think he's the best I've ever seen. I'd love to have seen him take a stab at P&P.

He's going to be 40 in November. No way can he get away with playing a 28-year-old.

Oh, I agree. That's why I put it in the past tense.

He was great as the older Darcy, though. Softened by Elizabeth, but not having undergone a complete personality transplant!

I get what you're saying. He was very good as Darcy.

And this is from someone who's not a big fan of Firth as Fitzwilliam Darcy. He was, however, wonderful as Mark Darcy.

I agree. I preferred Rhys to Firth in the role. I always thought Firth wouldn't have won half as many hearts if they hadn't done that wet shirt scene (which did nothing for me).

I haven't had a chance to track down this series, but in the book of Death Comes To Pemberly, Darcy is 34.... If that helps make the casting more believable.

Thank you.

We were saying that Rhys would have made a great Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, if he'd been younger. 
