The thing that disturbed me the most.

After he's supposedly redeemed himself in her eyes and is welcomed back as her husband, the first thing he does is crack open a beer. Are you kidding me? I thought for sure this was a test from her. "Do what you think is right". I thought the second he took a sip she was going to kick him out. Nope. Unbelievable.

Up until that point I was dreading the hitman showing up after the progress they were both making. After that though? I welcomed him. *beep* that guy.

I think the idea was that neither of them had really changed, as most people don't. A mask can last for a little while but we can't change who we essentially are. He was a wife beating alcoholic and she was someone who was easily dominated by both him and her mother. For a short while she went against type and stood up for herself but it was not something she could maintain any more than he could maintain being the good sober husband. The only thing that could end the cycle was death.

They were both young and no doubt neither understood addiction. They probably thought 'one' beer or two wouldn't hurt a thing. Addiction is a horrible disease.

That, out of the entirety of the movie, is what disturbed you the most? Not the senseless killing of the waitress and the diner patron? Not the fact that the killer had no conscience or morals? Not the fact that she amazingly grew a pair after one incident?
