Meaning of the final dance

What was the final dance supposed to mean? Was it supposed to be like a tribute to the people who died in the war or something like that?

I was watching and couldn't get why it was supposed to be meaningful or emotional for the audience. It was more like some experimental performance, imitating death in war, but it wasn't a performance that brought emotions and a positive message... I don't know, I didn't get it.

Either way, I appreciate the effort of the filmakers, dancers and cast. It wasn't a great movie, but it was OK.
