NO Dogs or Cats in this world...

...I don't remember seeing any kind of "pet" on a leash or in a cage, either.
Aparently there were dog/cat reference/gags in some names, but that's it.

reply

Because if they were living together it'd be the end of the World

Zootopia is a world where apes never existed. Without apes, there would be no humans. Humans bred dogs from wolves. Without humans, dogs wouldn't exist. House cats were bred from the Near Eastern wildcat. Therefore, without humans, house cats wouldn't exist either.

Don't judge my taste when you don't know if I have any.

Dogs and small cats have been domesticated for centuries. Probably more than any other animal species and are associated with man. A few of these smaller animals (hamsters) and birds have been pets for a shorter period of time. Water Buffalos were used as work animals but never lived in a house with humans.

I think they were making a distinction. Dogs and cats are domesticated to live with humans. Reminds me of 1984 where the farm animals looked in the windows and found their new masters, the pigs, sitting at the table like their previous human masters.

Right author, wrong book. The George Orwell novel you referred to is Animal Farm.

This picture contains no physical depiction of the Godhead.

Neither would sheep.

Take them to the security kitchen!

There's the argument that cats and dogs wouldn't exist in a world without humans. I guess that's true.
But couldn't they have other "pets" -- any kind of "pets" as Naldoman asked -- like Pixar's WALLΒ·E who had a cockroach as a pet?
Would that be against the film's message? Would that work?

We know that they eat Insect-Burgers. Would they play with insects if they also eat them? Well, we sometimes do that with our pets (rabbits) but most pets are seen as part of the family and that makes them sacrosanct.
There could be a difference between certain tasty insects and others which are seen as beautiful or strange creatures (Ladybirds, Stag Beetles, Scarabs, Butterflys).

And when I think about it -- actually there is one character with pets in Zootopia. Yax, the naturist yak, is hosting an extended family of moths in his hair.

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing them add dogs and cats to the movie and if you look into it they have said there are going to be some new animals in Zootopia 2 so it is possible dogs and cats will be 2 of the animals added. I don't see them adding humans to the Zootopia world though.

I meant to say Animal Farm instead of 1984. Since Orwell wrote that book, people have made pets of pot bellied pigs and some let them live in their house (as protection from being attacked by dogs sometimes).

One woman here said her pig lived in the house and she fed it a pound of bacon at a time since it liked it.

Sick and tired of cats and dogs in such movies (Secret life of Pets, for example). Good thing they didn't add them in this movie. I didn't even notice until I read this thread.

reply

If we did have them in Zootopia, it be cool to see anthropomorphic versions of Bolt and Mittens. Actually there was a cat reference, Duke Weaselton's bootleg of Meowana.

reply

I thought that was a reference to Moana the other popular animated movie of the year..
Sly..

reply

Oh, you mean domesticated dogs and cats because foxes are part of the dog family and lions/cheetahs and such are part of the cat family. I assume it's because while this focuses on animals, it only focuses on wild animals......land ones at that since there were no fish either.

Little Mikey Myers that lived across the street.

reply

It might be better then they didn't since there seems to be a lot of dogs and cat movies anyways or at least ones like cats and dogs where they are up against each other.

reply

Just because they weren't seen doesn't mean they weren't there.

reply

That is true
