Jeff Garlin's 8 1/2? (Spoilers)

I've got to admit, I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie. I like Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm, his first directorial effort "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With," even his stand-up special (Young & Handsome), but I didn't think I could relate to the subject matter involving a children's softball league. However, a completely winning cast made up for that. Much of the movie involves Jeff's character interviewing the other parents of the league for a possible documentary feature (I wonder how much of this was drawn from real life?). This includes Bob Odenkirk, Richard Kind, JB Smoove, Fred Willard (who is still at the top of his game at 80), Gina Gershon and Kerri Kenney. If there's one thing I would take issue with, it's the title (which is admittedly great); these people aren't so much idiots, as they actually lead really sad, depressing lives. This all culminates in that hilariously Fellini-esque ending, in which Jeff Garlin completely loses it on everyone, hugging them while telling them to go fúck themselves, which had me in stitches. ("At night, I jizz on the field! I jizz all over the field!") Holy shít, that was funny.
