My 3 Random Thoughts About This Show

First off. Total guilty pleasure. These women are ridiculous and out of touch with reality, IMO. That makes for great trash TV though. They are such catty women. Their lives are pretty much the sum of every stereotypical high school movie, yet these women are adults with children. They are THOSE girls. The ones with the perfectly coordinated outfits, b!tchy attitudes, trendiest everything, extensions/fake nails/fake boobs/ loads of makeup, completely superficial thinking, vodka drinking, gossip in front of the mirror type of girls. I'm just waiting for a pillow fight to break out. Secretly, I always wanted to be these girls in high school.

Also, the last episode was ridiculous. Emily literally can't live without her nanny...or take care of her child at all. What was the point of having a kid then?. I sorta doubt Amzie was planned or something Emily truly wanted on a greater level than having a real live doll to dress up. From the timeline mentioned, Emily has known Pete for about four years. Amzie is two, pregnancy is about 9 months, and they had to have at least dated for some period of time so it seems that Emily most likely got pregnant shortly after getting married. My point is, she barely takes on a parenting role. She freely admits she likes Swank more. Craziness. Also the two moms who do "modeling". What BS. As a former model who's done runway, I can't take them seriously at all. Any mildly hot chick always has some amateur photographer take their picture and then calls themselves a "model".

Finally. What do their husbands see in them? I mean, most of the don't work. They spend tons of money. They talk like idiots (especially Emily and Nicole...like barely knowing the Pope is Catholic). None of thme are great mothers, even Miranda and Nicole kinda suck. They are a little bit too much like a "Stepford" wives mothers, in my mind, who try too hard to be perfect. They all are catty and look pretty fake. I just don't understand the appeal. The guys seems pretty normal and even pretty decent husbands/fathers. I feel bad for Pete. Last episode we saw a flicker of love between him and Emily but in general she seems to not care how he feels. On the flip side, Miranda's husband gives off a feminine vibe to me. The neon pink golf pants, and complimenting his wife on her makeup, just rubbed me the wrong way.

Sorry this was long, I didn't want to make three separate posts on my two cents.

I haven't finished the last two episodes (watching now), but pink and other brightly colored golf pants and shirts are common in the South. Not everyone wears them, but they don't have quite the same meaning they might elsewhere. Or perhaps it's a socio-economic class issue. That is, they might not mean anything different in the Hamptons, but I don't go there. Someone else would have to answer that one.
