Cry-baby guy should have dumped his girl. Good movie.

Although the guy seemed to be running away from commitment, he started getting all emotional when he made out with the girl from Finland. His girl also calls him to let him know that she had already chosen the house for them, without even consulting him. That was an immediate ground for dumping her. The movie makes it seem as if this guy took the wrong path of life by going solo vacationing, making out with the other girl and then, in the end, make it seem as if he was going to continue being miserable. This is probably how many wimps would have felt. In reality, the road trip should have been a wake up call for this guy. He should have learned that marriage is a death trap, especially in the US. And that going solo and exploring is the best thing he could have done. This movie is way underrated, probably because it's not a typical retarded Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis movie. 8/10

Why is marriage a death trap, especially in the US?

reply

because family-law, marriage- law, divorce-law, criminal-law and usually the application of any law, for that matter, favors women by default. Just ask any married man or divorced man how it is, if he can be objective about it. It only takes an accusation by a woman against her husband of domestic abuse and they will let him have it. But it doesn't work the other way around. After a divorce, the man is likely to lose much more, including the kids, just by default. Not to mention alimony, depending on the state...and the list goes on.

Probably most of what you said is true IF the marriage is unhealthy and ends in divorce. But if the marriage is healthy and both husband and wife work on it to keep it that way, it can be a wonderful thing. Don't you think so?

At least 50 percent of marriages end in divorce. Many men in the other 50 percent, who haven't divorced, wish they would. The old saying goes: "It's cheaper to keep her." Others, at some point of their lives, wish they hadn't married. They yearn the things they could do when they were single and with no kids. Yes, if the marriage is healthy and both husband and wife work on it to keep it that way, like you say, it would be a wonderful thing. But the numbers don't lie. I would not gamble on this and the chances of happening is slim.

It's a good thing that we mostly don't have arranged and/or forced marriages in America.
