This dude left Game of Thrones to do this?

They must have thrown a bunch of cash at him

reply

He didn't leave Game of Thrones on his own. No one liked him as Daario Naharis.

reply

I'm surprised... For me it was the exact opposite, i didn't like the recast and thought Ed Skrein was more convincing than the new dude. More charisma and more attractive, a nice combination of smooth and deadly, some kind of gentleman killer poet, but maybe that's just me.

Do you have a link that supports the claim that nobody liked him as Naharis?

Because the first 2 hits after a google search both give his landing the Transporter role as being the reason why he left GoT...

Since i happen to find him good as Naharis, this explanation convinces me more, but at the end of the day, i have no idea.

Nonsense, he left to star in this film. He excelled as Daario Naharis in GoT. Being a lead of a high budget but probably crappy film means more money in your pocket than being a supporting actor in a high budget TV show, however critically acclaimed it is. He could have done both but shooting schedules do not often allow that.

Bullshiat. The grand majority of people on the GoT boards thought his protrayal of Daario was far better than his replacement. Skrein acted far closer to book Daario than the new one.

reply

I think if he left GoT for this, it was a mistake. GoT is surely much better exposure, even a small role like Daario

reply

What boards? On every board almost all people said he looked like a Fabio doll. I think this part in Transporter suits him better.

I loved him as Daario and wish he would have stayed there. He left because he was offered a chance at a Transporter trilogy and took it. I can kind of see why. He would be more recognizable.

i liked him better than the new guy

reply

Why don't you get your facts straight before you start spewing out a bunch of b*******. He left Game of Thrones because he's a *beep* idiot and he thought that making this movie was going to give him a huge boost in his acting career and it obviously did not.

reply

Ya I always assumed he was fired, literally every line he had was painful to see. His performance made me very worried about season 4 of GoT, I was really relieved when I saw they recast.

reply

I thought he was great as Daario. Better than the guy who replaced him that's for sure.

reply

He was awesome, too bad he left.

reply

being the lead in a movie that will probably have sequels versus being a supporting chracter in a series with 3 seasons left and were he can be killed off at any point

reply

Will probably have sequels? The Transporter isn't Bond, there's no guarantee of anything. This one has to be a smash hit before it gets sequels.

Statham is a boss...

I thought he was amazing in GOT and he felt charismatic and ethereal, the recast was so different and i don't like this new guy. I guess its his choice, but i would have made a name on GOT for a while first.

reply

Then again, who likes a recast? If they choose some actor to play a part, thats because they thought he was fitted for it. Unless the guy is going to jail or something worse, like dying of cancer while being Spartacus, imo nobody likes a recast. But thats just me.
