Officially Cancelled!

Not really a surprise considering how they decided to end season 2 but I was actually really hoping it could scrape up a third and final season somehow. It was a great show. RIP.

Sad news... thanks.

I had not heard this. Last I heard they were going to set the story in the future and make it about different characters. How disappointing.

This should have been aired on HBO instead of MAX...really a shame as it was the best series since the wire.

reply

I hate when a series I love doesn't get enough time. Reminds me of Rome. Left me wanting more.

And I still can't believe I didn't yet watch the Wire.

What difference do you think HBO could have made? More $$ perhaps?

reply

More money for budget and advertising. A better audience in that HBO has a reputation for a more high brow, engaging lineup...the wire, deadwood, the sopranos, oz and yes...ROME!!! At the time of the knick ,MAX had shows for a more shoot em up crowd...banshee comes to mind but there was atleast one other that escapes me. HBO also has the Midas touch as far as Emmys go and with Soderberg at the helm, the show seemed tailor made for Emmy recognition.
Or it would have floundered and died just like at MAX...we'll unfortunately never know...what a shame!

reply

Sure is a shame! And I guess the shoot em up crowd wasn't looking for the type that was being done on the Knick. I'm sorry, that was lame but I couldn't resist.

When HBO cancelled Rome I heard it was because of budget too. That really was an excellent series. To think if Kevin McKidd had only gone on to do Grey's Anatomy without doing Rome I never would have known who he was. Lucious Vorenes forever. hehe.
