I'll probably see it, but...

The trailer and the website is so... obvious? Maybe it's me, but I immediately knew these were slow motion close ups of people watching the internet, TV, films etc, but this has been going on since the 1920's. People have always been mesmerized by artificial, moving images in a darkened room, what's so different here? is it because the "internet of everything" has people spooked? I don't get it, please tell me there is more to this film.

The film's website says:

"reveals humanity’s trancelike relationship with technology, which, when commandeered by extreme emotional states, produces massive effects far beyond the human species." So watching "whatever" produces massive effects beyond humans? Really? Hasn't this always been the way? Are the effects now destroying us in an unnatural, unhealthy way, are they saying the content is a disease? Do we need to turn off our computers? I don't know, I think the caveman telling a dramatic story about the cosmos when firelight reflected his enormous shadow and the cave dwellers were entranced, is pretty much the same thing.

People are different now than they were in the twenties, their thoughts and actions are driven by much different emotions and reactions to much different technologies.

Just saw this, but I might not have if I had read that stupid, pretentious, meaningless quote. "Commandeered by extreme emotional states"? What the hell does that mean? How can technology produce "massive effects far beyond the human species"? Anyway, if you are a massive Philip Glass/Reggio fan like I am, I would go see this. Otherwise stay home. There were 4 people in the theater when I went, two of whom walked out.
