Superb in every way !

Visitors is a one of the kind film experience. Profound, intelligent and visually compelling to say the least.

Speaking of interesting films, the nonverbal purely visual types, here's another one being made called 20-22 about society and technology, www.20-22.com

"humanity's trance-like relationship with technology"

I really need to see this one from everything I've read.

I accept your surrender.

Great tip, 20 - 22!

I loved this film, had to see it both times it screened in Amsterdam... I hope it gets a general release as I'd be thrilled to see it again on the big screen.

Monumentally tedious. Visitors is no more interesting or intelligent than the blandest of social issue documentaries. Its themes, the bankruptcy of contemporary culture etc., are as banal as they are hastily articulated. The director may believe he has something valuable to tell us, but to judge by the film we don't need to listen. It's just another bout of silent, self-righteous wrist slapping. He doesn't appear to have moved on since Koyaanisqatsi 30 years ago.

I would seriously suggest that anyone considering watching Visitors would be better off not seeing it. As benman46 rightly says, Reggio has apparently not moved on since Koyaanisqatsi 30 years ago, a film I thoroughly enjoyed and saw at least twice. This is a boring repetition. The visuals are good, but the message came over better in the earlier films.

I suppose it would depend, then, on what a person got out of Koyaanisqatsi to begin with. I watched it with someone new a few days ago, and he seemed to enjoy it mostly as an impression of life, especially city life, at the beginning of the '80s. A historical snapshot, as it were. From that perspective, perhaps one might similarly enjoy Visitors? (I have not yet seen it, so I can't be sure.)
