a masterpiece
it has to be on the imdb top 250
shareI don't know that I'd call it a masterpiece, which I think is a very overused term, but I did find it gripping and really enjoyed watching it. The '70s setting and style of cinematography were very well done. Dujardin and Lellouche both played their parts convincingly.
shareI enjoyed the film but couldn't help feeling it's sort of been done all before in various elements. Well acted and enjoyed the 70's cinematography as another reviewer remarked. Saying that it's better than the majority of the Hollywood garbage that comes out now days.
shareIm with bronco tim. Its a very good movie but NOT the mindblowing masterpiece everyone thinks it is. Overexposed washed out cinematography, too loosely edited ( needs to be shorter).
yeah its a lot smarter than juvenile c--p like " fast and furious part __________" but those flicks, as dumb as they are- move move and move! This falls short of other gangster classics like Goodfellas or..... can I say it , "the French Connection"
The two lead actors look too much alike, confusing me a lot.
And I didnt really feel emotionally engaged with either character until the last quarter of the film.
I didnt really feel emotionally engaged with either character until the last quarter of the film. The film kept quite distant from its characters. We 'learn' most about Pierre Michel but no one else. Perhaps in France these real life events and its people are familiar enough. The character I engaged with immediately was Bimbo! He made me laugh but like many appeared briefly. My favourite character was Crazy Horse but we learn next to nothing about him.

For me it was a 10.
I like Armageddon. A lot.
Hardly a masterpiece. Watch Melville films - those are the masterpieces. Also, Heat is much better than this.
