You didn't get it.

You didn't get that his father was a symbol of God.

God is seeking his own God, which does not exist. God is fighting to find something, some greater meaning, but he cannot find anything except phantoms and spirits and voodoo religions and invisible intelligent life. This is because his real God, his real creator, his father, was detached from him just as he himself is detached from his own creation, his son.

The silence of the father's illusory God mirrors the father's own silence towards his son.

The son, the creation, struggles to accept that there is no God, he struggles to accept that his father, his real God, is wrong. He recognizes his God's rage at not finding God, and he must struggle to not make the same mistake of seeking a God which is not there. Ultimately he must let go of his God along with his lies in order to become a good God to his own future creations, his progeny.

We are all there is. There is no greater meaning. There is no greater purpose. There is no God out there. We are the Gods, and we can choose to be good Gods to our creations or we can be bad Gods to our creations.
